Things that Rock my Maternity Socks Off!

For the record, I don't wear maternity socks.  I don't even know what maternity socks are, or if they are even a thing.

So, here I am 21 weeks pregnant.  I'm halfway through, and I've already experienced plenty of the usual prego woes.

These are a few of the items that I have become hugely (Ha! No pun intended) fond of!

Tums are my very best friend.  I have a bottle on the kitchen counter at home, a bottle at my desk at work, and a cute little bottle that I carry around everywhere in my purse.  Some days even water gives me heart burn.

BOBS by Sketchers are just fantastic!  I bought the glitter ones so I can wear them to work, and the sole is a lot sturdier.  They are loose enough so they don't pinch when my feet are swollen by the end of the day, but the soles are comfortable enough that I can still stand when my feet are swollen at the end of a very long day.  You have to pay attention to the sole, though, when buying.  They have one sole that is really flimsy like flip flops, and one that is a little more sturdy.

Bio-Oil is a heaven sent moisturizer!  I will continue to use this after I have the baby.  I bought it at the suggestion that it helps prevent stretch marks.  I noticed a few on my boobs, and have been using this twice a day for a few weeks now, and the red marks are already fading.  Plus, it absorbs into my skin, and leaves my whole body silky smooth.  Even my feet are smoother, and I had a problem with dry, cracked heels.  I add a drop or 2 of Eucalyptus Oil at night when my feet and ankles are swollen, and it helps keep it down.

Reece's Peanut Butter Cups.  I could sit and eat an entire bag of these wonderful little gems.  This baby loves her some chocolate, and I'm being a good little Mommy by making sure there's protein in said chocolate because I heard on the radio that candy with nuts or peanut butter is good for you the best candy for you.

We are currently working on the baby's room, so I will have nursery pictures soon.  We've got half the room painted

20 Week Photo

Tickled Pink to Put Together a Nursery!

At 15 weeks, we learned that we are having ourselves a little princess.  I already had a feeling it was.  I was mostly shopping for girl stuff already.  I just had my 20 week anatomy scan yesterday, and they confirmed that it is still a little girl.  That means I can start buying things to put this nursery together.

You can check out my "For Baby Smith" Pinterest board, but below are a few of the nursery rooms that I've used as inspiration.

I love, love, love the fancy look of Damask, but it just really hasn't had a place in our house.  It was almost a no-brainer when I found out it's a girl, because black and white damask paired with baby pink and white is fit for a princess!  So I'm building my princess a palace!

I love how they paired the damask with polka dots.  Also one of my favorites that just doesn't fit anywhere else in our home.  However, this particular set gets pretty pricey.

I loves the stripes on the wall, and the black crib with soft pink and white bedding.

I can't find where this one came from.

I found this lovely set online at Babies R Us as well as Target.  It's got that awesome black and white damask pattern with a soft pink, and even some polka dots.  But I don't care for the chunky black and white floral print, or the big flowers.  And the blankets are just too plain for a palace.  This is when I opted to make my own.

Babies R Us

So this is what I've come up with:

Pink silk floor-to-ceiling curtains
Pink silk dust ruffle
pink cotton fitted sheet
black furniture
Damask print for accent on pillows and as a border on the blanket.

I went to JoAnn and got some fabric samples last weekend, so this weekend, I will be doing plenty of sewing!  I'm "sew" excited! Ha!
